Orbital is well recognized as a world leader in the field of combustion
and gas exchange design, knowledge, application and development
for both 4-stroke cycle and 2-stroke cycle internal combustion engines.
In particular, Orbital has advanced capabilities in the design and
application of combustion control to effect fuel consumption and
exhaust gas emissions.

Catalyst development and application is conducted
in partnership with leading catalyst suppliers, such as Johnson
Matthey. Orbital is experienced in performing catalyst system development,
catalyst ageing, exhaust development and tuning; for both 4-stroke
and 2-stroke applications. Development and application experience
ranges from oxidation-only and TWC (three way catalysts) systems,
to TWC, through to state-of-the-art lean NOx storage catalysts.
Specific engine control strategies have been developed to enhance
catalyst performance and work on optimising the performance cost
equation.
Whether your needs are fundamental combustion
and gas exchange design using analysis and Single Cylinder Research
Engines (SCRE), or multicylinder engines and vehicles being optimised
for fuel consumption, emissions or performance Orbital can address
your combustion and system development needs.
