Fortunately most engine development programs leverage from experience
gained in previous engine projects. However, the calibration process
for a new ground-up engine can be significantly more involved, with
engine mapping and data acquisition process spread across many engines
in laboratories around the globe.
Orbital’s calibration team has experience
from “first-off” to “sign-off”. Many products
are in the market where Orbital had a lead roll in calibration development
and sign-off. We understand the need to conduct control system calibration
in an efficient manner, employing DoE techniques to minimise test
time, yet yield accurate results – results which will mean
data can be transferred seamlessly into customer systems for in-vehicle
validation. Our engine test facilities are correlated with our clients
from the start of the project ensuring operations proceed smoothly.
Orbital offers a range of engine test facilities,
and is able to support calibration on a diverse range of EMS platforms.
We can even provide on-site support when calibration must be done
at your own facilities for logistical reasons.
